Jemaica Paula Castro

As a child, I have always been creative and crafty and loved it as a hobby. It wasn’t until after dental school when I decided to follow my passion. I love to explore creative solutions in communication using digital media processes, typography, form development and information design with print, motion and UI/UX design enable to help shape and improve user experience and usability. My vision is to use my creative visual skills to impact society and help make this world a better place. I get my inspirations from the latest trends so I can think of creative ways for the next projects with modern and stylish sense.

PINOY206 PUBLICATION

Pinoy 206 is a publication I created in response to a class assignment where I had to choose a feature that is unique to Seattle and build a magazine prototype around it. The publication I created provides cultural information and awareness of Filipino culture in Seattle and to embrace the uniqueness and rich heritage of the Philippines. Although there was a lot of research, interviews, writing of the content and producing the illustrations and photography, I enjoyed it because I was able to share the Filipino culture in Seattle. I shared some Filipino food spots in the city since not a lot of people in Seattle know that there are some local Filipino restaurants in town. I also asked Filipino-American’s what it’s like being Filipino in Seattle.

TEATOX Organic Green Tea

Teatox is a packaging design project I created and the goal was to navigate and create a unique product packaging design. I came up with a leaf design package that would stand out from the norm and a product that serves a purpose and functionality.  I created a unique tag in a form of a leaf shape attached to the string and on the back of it, it has an inspirational/motivational daily quote. The tag can also be ripped off from the teabag envelope. I chose this product because of my love for green tea. I usually start my day with a cup of organic green tea before I start my first meal of the day. There are a lot of good health benefits to drinking green tea which is why I wanted to execute this project and share this lovely “fake packaging design product”.

Plan it Mobile App | UX/UI Design

Plan it is a Mobile Calendar App that assist users with identifying times that are open among other interested users from groups and allows you to coordinate a time to meet or hang out based on all user’s shared calendar availability through the notification alerts of the app. The app does a great job for users to make planning much easier with friends especially when plans don’t go through by text messaging so by creating and designing this app, my goal was to have an accessible shared calendar app for everyone that is fast, convenient and efficient in scheduling a meeting.
