Where’s the Flavor? Publication

In this project, I was tasked with creating a publication on a top that explores Seattle. I chose to do mine on the food of this city. The restaurants that I chose are not the mainstream ones that everyone hears about. I wanted to explore the city and find places doing something unique here. That is where the name of the magazine comes from, I feel like I am always on the search for good flavor. In the publication, I really wanted to showcase the food and make that the star. I also wanted to create an interesting layout that moves the reader from page to page. I also wanted the type to add to the imagery as well when it isn’t being read.

MindCare App

I wanted to create a mobile app that addressed the issues of anxiety, depression and panic disorders. Through my research and experience, I felt that an app would be the best way to meet the needs of individuals struggling with these issues. Through this project, I found that most individuals with these disorders do not seek professional help. That’s where MindCare comes in. It helps individuals to think through their thoughts by talking to a chatbot within the app. There also will be exercises that the app will suggest depending on what the individual is dealing with. There will also be related articles that are updated with current and accurate information. It also offers the ability to create a support group of up to three real people that you trust and can talk to in rough times. The Journal part of the app allows the individual to track how they are feeling day by day. They are able to rate their mood and answer several quick questions and fill out what is on their mind. Then the journal will show their mood over the past week to give perspective. They can then take this information and share it with their counselor when ready to seek help.

On this project, I had to create a motion ad for a brand. I chose to do mine on Spotify to showcase that they now stream podcasts and not just music. One challenged that I faced was how to represent something in a video that is only an audio format. I decided to sync text to the dialogue in the podcast in an interesting way. I also added images of the people who host the podcast shows and gave them a bit of motion so that the viewer would be engaged and be able to visually see what this medium is about. I also felt that it was important to highlight the words and give them a presence since in a podcast that is the content since it is not normally a visual experience.
